Games to Play at a Tea Party

Tea party games are always fun to plan. If you are looking for the best tea party games, you have come to the right place.

Teacup Swap is a game for big or small groups. In your invitation, ask each guest to bring a teacup and saucer that they are willing to trade. Suggest a place that they might find one if they do not have one on hand (an antique store in the area is a good bet). Make sure that you have extra in case someone forgets, or cannot afford one.

When the guests arrive, have them sit at the tea table and place their cups and saucers in front of them.

When you are ready, have everyone walk around the table, admiring each teacup and saucer set. When everyone has finished, let them know that the first guest to arrive is the first to choose a teacup.

You can go in the order of the guests arrivals, by birthdays, or go in age order.

It is lots of fun if you keep the fact that they will be trading teacups a secret. Just make sure that those bringing their own know that they should make sure they bring a teacup that they don't mind giving away.

Each guest will get a chance to pick their favorite, and no matter which teacup others choose, they will each end up with a lovely teacup and saucer to take home!

Try playing Tea Tasting with up to 10 people at your next tea party. This game is lots of fun. You will need a few teapots and a small inexpensive prize.

Buy an assortment of teas and steep each in a different pot.

Serve a small sampling of a tea to your each of your guests and let them try to guess what kind of tea it is.

When everyone has tasted and guessed each flavor, give the best guesser a small prize.

Just remember to write down which tea is in each pot in case you forget!

Try buying different herbal teas that have distinct flavors for those at the party that do not normally drink tea.

In general, avoid buying mixed teas because the flavors can get confusing.

These teas should be familiar to your guests and have contrasting flavors:

Peppermint

Rose Hip

Orange Zest

Green Tea

Lavender

Chai

Chamomile

Ginger

Raspberry

If you are looking for a silly game that is tons of fun, arrange for each guest to make a lovely tea party hat.

Going to the craft store during a clearance sale is a sure way to find some great hat decorating materials.

Most people get very creative when decorating hats, so most craft supplies will work.

Here are some ideas of what to provide:

Silk flowers

Ribbons

Lace

Buttons

Beads

Thread

Bells

Fabric

The fabric can be tulle, which is inexpensive and can easily be cut into 1'x1' pieces.

Hot glue guns are needed for this project, so make sure you have some handy. Make sure you have one for every two people.

Quick drying craft glue will work if you do not have any hot glue guns.

When each hat is complete, award a prize to the most creative hat, the prettiest hat, the smallest hat, etc. Make sure you take lots of pictures!
