Pool tables at your neighborhood pool hall may all resemble each another, but a closer look might reveal otherwise.
A cheap table made of plywood or something similar is less expensive, but the table probably won't last too many years.
However, if you are a dedicated player, tables made entirely of wood must be your selection. Solid wood tables cost more, but they're put together better, they are more durable, and, most likely, they will look better.
Usually, pool tables are either undersized or oversized. These undersized tables are not as durable. Because they are built with less reinforcement, they tend to get warped more quickly from regular use.
However, an oversized table is built better and has more stability. It can withstand the sitting and leaning; they won.. 't warp or become distorted as easily.
Buying tables built out of slate is the best selection for the serious player. Slate is very durable and can be installed in one piece, in two pieces, or even in three or more pieces. It is usually made to order by hand, too.
For those who are not as serious about playing, non-slate material is the best option. Non-slate material is usually created on an assembly line and is less durable than slate. It is cheaper, though.
An important part of table selection is how is the table going to be used. Is it for the serious player or is it for a family with lots of kids around?
Determining these factors will help you decide whether to spend a lot or a little.
On an unframed slate, the cloth will have to be glued to the table, but it will be uneven. Gluing usually isn.. 't consistently flat, and the cloth will reveal imperfections of gluing process.
Unframed, though, the cloth must be applied to the top of the slate. Often, this results in a bumpy playing surface. As the glue is directly applied to the cloth's underside, the imperfections from the ensuing drying process will show this unevenness.
You can select what suits your taste or the style of your house. Straight or curved legs can be selected according to your taste. Or you might want ornately carved legs. Regardless, you.. 'll want to choose legs that are strong and very supportive.
Light, dark, or medium-colored are the choices for the wood. It usually might depend on the rest of the furniture in the house or the room.
A more personal choice might be the table cloth. Traditional is green, but blue or red have recently become more common.
