The Power Of Mind Is Everything!

by Guest Author

A commercial for the United Negro College Fund which aired frequently in the 1980s used the slogan 'the mind is a terrible thing to waste'. We're not talking about college educations here today, but this is a slogan which is absolutely true. Your mind has lot more power than you might think; and the power of the mind is indeed a terrible thing to waste. When you can access the power your mind contains, you can use it to change the world around you for the better.

You've certainly heard about the law of attraction; the idea behind the book and film 'The Secret'. Whatever you put your mental energy toward will come to you is the message of the work. Whether you do so consciously or not, the power of the mind is such that you can make whatever you focus on happen, whether for good or ill.

One prime example of the efficacy of this idea is what is called the placebo effect. This is named for the clinical trials which use placebos for the control group while giving the actual medication to the other. Both groups think they're getting the medication, so both often believe them to be experiencing the effects that have been described to them.

We do this kind of thing to ourselves all the time. For instance, when you wake up thinking that this is going to be 'one of those days'; and it turns out to be a bad day. It's actually the power of the mind that causes this to happen.

There is an increasingly large body of scientific evidence which suggests that there is a basis for this phenomena in the laws of physics. A surprising idea comes from the world of quantum mechanics which suggests that matter (which at its most basic level is simply energy) exists only when being observed - suggesting that our minds may have more influence over the universe than we have let ourselves believe in the past.

Many scientists now believe that many things which we think of as supernatural are in fact explainable through hard science, although we're only beginning to understand just how it is that telepathy, ESP and other mental phenomena work.

The power of the mind is something that you can train yourself to use for your own benefit. If you could use your own mental energy to bend the universe and make positive changes, wouldn't you want to learn how? There are a couple of methods which can help you to learn to access your own latent mental powers.

One important thing to keep in mind is that it is far easier to focus your mind to achieve a specific goal rather than a general one. If you'd like to become financially well off, you need to focus on a specific dollar amount rather than trying to focus on being wealthy in general. This makes it far easier for your mind to focus on this objective.

Many people already know about the power of the mind and use it every day to make their goals a reality. They are able to decide on a specific goal and put all of their mind power towards this objective - and this is exactly how some of the world's most successful people have managed to become who they are today. It's not difficult to do, though learning to focus your mind on your goal does take a little metal training.

When you learn to control this power of the mind, you can use it to make changes in your world; in fact, you can make almost anything you can imagine a reality. Let's say that you want to buy a particular house. You put all of your mental energy into it, imagining even the small details like the color you want to paint the rec room. You start expending effort into areas that will help you to achieve your goal (like working more so you can save up the down payment) and research how to get favorable mortgage terms.

When you make this goal the target of the power of the mind, you begin to set the events in motion which lead to it coming to pass. The home will go on the market, your offer will be accepted and you'll easily secure a great mortgage. It's not luck that made this happen; it's not just your hard work either - the power of the mind played the starring role.

This is something that any of us has the ability to do. When you learn to tap into the power of the mind, you can use it to achieve nearly anything in life. The important thing is to start small and then work your way up to ever bigger and better things until you've accomplished everything you want to in life.
